Our late-night adventures of yesterday
rendered us ”dead to the world” this morning. As a result of
staying up till 2 last night, we slept all the way from Crowley to
Joplin. So, as soon as we woke up we looked out the window, and we
were already at Shake's, which is supposedly the best frozen custard
in Joplin!
It was pretty good, but they were a mite expensive for me.
After sittin around and enjoying our custard,
we headed back to the
motor home for a delicious lunch of chicken salad on golden
croissants, with baby carrots and ranch on the side.
After lunch, we
embarked on the short drive to Paul and Margaret's where we played
some games, and caught a cute little water snake.
The kids were
playing badminton, and Holden and Allie decided to challenge us to a
duel!
After 2 successful games, we went inside to cool off, and
Margaret was telling us about her signs that she makes and sells at
Repurpose Boutique.
We figured that instead of just talking about
them, why not just go look at them?! So, we drove Carthage, and went
to the store, visited Goodwill, and then stopped by Taco Bell for a
little snack before dinner. When we came back, the kids were playing
tennis-baseball,
and we all went inside to get ready for meeting. On the way we spied a beautiful rural landscape...
At
6:00, we had a big dinner at the building, then cleaned up, and got
ready for meeting. After Jeff's message, we had ice cream, and fun
was had by all!
Jeff had said that we would stay until “the last
dog dies” so Michael suggested that everyone pull out their
sleeping bags, and sleep at the building so as to extend the time of
our short visitation. It had been thundering all day, and as soon as
we were about to leave, the rain came a'pourin down.
When our time of
food, fun, and fellowship was over, we all piled back into our
beloved old motor home, which will be our “home” for the next 4
days.
Sitting at the table with McGrew, we
reminisced about our childhood...
“as of late, the fog that
floats through the memories of childhood has become thicker and
thicker. Remembering the rhymes of old, we became a little
befuddled......Inkie, binkie, bonkie, the tiger caught the donkey by
the toe, donkey cried while daddy fried, how many pieces do you wish,
you dirty dirty dishrag you?”
P.S. We are posting this a day late because we were kind of a little retarded yesterday..... we had no internet connection, but today we realized (with the help of Scott) that we could use Jeff's Tablet for an internet hotspot..... so here you are!!!
