This was up on the top deck... It was very windy!
Ice cream!
This was the guy at the restaurant in the ferry. I thought he looked like a cross between Keith Collins and Toby Clem.
Dinner...
Gotta have some sunset pictures!
Docking at Port aux Basques.
After we getting off the ferry and driving half the night, we pulled into the driveway of Marble Mountain Ski Lodge for the night. In the morning we drove to Deer Lake where we stopped to do laundry at the Matthews laundromat.
While waiting for the clothes to finish, we sat in the motor home, had breakfast, and sang some songs, accompanied by Jeff and his travel guitar.
After an hour or two we pulled out of the laundromat and drove another 3 hours to a river where we got out and explored a little bit.
We found some wild raspberries and an apple tree. The wild fruit here is SOOO good!
We saw a moose in the woods as we drove by. Its kind of hard to see...
Wednesday
We arrived at camp around 5:00 on Wednesday evening. We were the first ones there because Greg and Terri got a flat tire on their trailer on the way but they were not too far behind us.
We explored the camp and sat around and talked until we went to bed. Pretty much everyone got to camp that night.
Thursday
Breakfast was at 8:00 and meetings were at 10:00 and 7:00 due to the meal times. The camp host, Melvin, and his wife, Melissa, cooked all the meals. After every meal all the young people did all the dishes and cleaned up the dining hall.
At meeting Thursday morning Jeff gave some things mostly from Hebrews 1 and 2.... "What is man?" After meeting and lunch, most everyone played volley ball while the older folks watched.
When we finished our volley ball games we played some really good frisbee football.
Afterwords we played some intense two-on-two volley ball. the teams were Shauna and Jonathan against me and Evan.
We played three games but, needless to say, we never quite ended up with the 'W'... Good job Shauna and Jon! Scott spoke Thursday night. He basically said what would have happened in your life if you were a Jew born in 20 b.c. After meeting we had snacks and the young people played Blurt!.
There was one slight problem that night, when we all went in to take showers we found that the drain in the bathroom was not working.
Instead of the water draining down, all the water came bubbling back out and was filling the floor with this disgusting water... It was quite repulsive...
Friday
Friday morning a guy named Rick Chaffy, from Nova Scotia, gave a message. After lunch all the young people, 10 and older, participated in a game/scavenger hunt prepared by Caleb and Amy.
They split us up into the Red Team and the Green Team.
Each building or area around the camp was given a bible name and the clues used the bible names to tell where to go. We had to run all over the camp ground like crazy :)
The scavenger hunt was worth a certain number of points and the games were worth more points.
The team with the most number of points at the end won. David Rutt gave a message Friday night about Being Contagious In A Positive Sense. (the red dots were part of the message)
Later we all had snacks back at the dining hall...
Saturday
Saturday was the last full day of camp. Jeff gave a message Saturday on his four points. 1. You must be born again 2. Principles, precepts, laws, and commandments 3. Wisdom, prudence, and discretion 4. Your relationship with the Lord.
During the day we played MORE volley ball and more two-on-two.
This time we won 3 out of the 7 games! So we pretty much played volley ball all day long :)
Nora Jane!
Sierra, Nora, and Patrick
The last meeting was Saturday night. The message was given by Rick Chaffy again about the parallels between now days and the days when the Jews were watching for the Messiah.
We all went to have snacks after meeting and took a lot of pictures...
...then Boss and Mary got out the sparklers and David and Becca got out the glow sticks and we 'lit up the night'.
Some of us put on glow sticks and we sort of tried to play frisbee with the light up frisbee. It was kind of hard though.
Sunday
There was no meeting Sunday because we helped clean up the camp so the camp hosts could go home early. We did, of course, play some more volley ball though :)
These are all the girls who stayed in our cabin the last night.
Every year they take a group picture, this year there was 51 people at the camp and everyone would absolutely LOVE it if anyone could come up next year!
It was a really good camp with so many encouraging meetings and songs. The whole time was filled with fellowship and fun of one sort or another. Camp is always in the middle of August so mark it on your calenders!!!
After we all left camp we met at a fish and chips place about half way back to St. Johns.
I got, what they called, Feather and Fin which is just a piece of chicken, a piece of fish, and fries.
It was really good. Wendy got fried shrimp and fries.
A lot of us ended up stopping at the same gas station on the way back.
We rode with Caleb and Amy and Margret back to Greg and Terri's house where we spent the night.
We had a GREAT weekend!!
